Tottenham Hotspur are competing with Chelsea for the signing of Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City, according to a report.
Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte
Earlier this month, journalist Rudy Galetti reported on Twitter that Chelsea was to sign Laporte from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
90min reported this month that defending champions City are willing to sell Laporte at the end of the season.
The £130,000-a-week (SalarySport) 28-year-old Spain international himself reportedly wants to leave City after losing his place in the team.

And now journalist Steve Kay has reported in FootballTransfers that Tottenham have joined the race for the defender.
The report has claimed that Tottenham “have been looking for a young, versatile defender for quite a while now, and they have recently inquired about Aymeric Laporte and Pau Torres”.
HITC Verdict: Summer transfer unlikely to happen
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to be able to sign Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
Laporte may have lost his place in Pep Guardiola’s side this season, but he is an ‘elite’ defender who has done well for City over the years.
The Spain international is used to winning major trophies and challenging for top honours, and we do not think that he would be tempted to move to a Tottenham side who may not play in the UEFA Champions League next season and are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title anytime soon.
